Derrick Evans grew up in Brandon , Florida where he participated in Football , Track & Field while attending Bloomingdale High School . In his senior year He took up leadership as a Captain of Track and Field and Relay For Life , his team " The comebacks" conquered Everest University by obtaining the highest onsite - Fundraising award. After high school along with his long time friend Orlando Rodriguez they founded Bay - 2 - Bay
a semi professional fishing team based out of Tampa. through the years they won tournaments and funded Bay area charities while managing a budget of $3,000.
from 2015-2017 Derrick worked on his professional goals as a supervisor at Amazon and Bass Pro Shops where he found a passion for Business . On August , 17th ,2017 Derrick was accepted to Santa Fe College , Unfortunately on the same day his Co -Captain and friend of 15 years Orlando passed away . This fueled Derrick to take initiative over his life and As a first gen student in his first semester at Santa Fe in the Spring of 2018 he earned dean's list recognition for a 4.0 GPA . In October 2018 he was elected from among 5 candidates, in front of Student Senate and was sworn in as Programs Events Chair as co-head of the branch He manages $14,000 with his amazing Finance Chair; Kate Santacruz. This dynamic duo tore down record after record and now they have one goal: to maintain Santa Fe's level of excellence. As the college says goodbye to Dr. Sasser they want to lead by example and welcome the new era of Santa Fe students for a unified future. Student's, Faculty, and Staff as One: Santa Fe.
